Bespoke - Stories

A collection of some of the bespoke pieces I have created; some are one city, some are a combination of cities, and each has a unique and special story behind it.

If you’re interested in your own bespoke piece, or creating an extraordinary gift for someone, get in touch.

I created this piece as a 10 year anniversary gift from wife to husband.

It starts with Columbia University NYC where they both went, where they started dating and also worked together, their proposal spot in Central Park with their dog, where they got married, then moves on to Hong Kong where they lived for 8 years, including the apartment block where they lived.

It ends with their home together in New York, with a wisteria colour pop and a little silhouette of their three children.

I created this piece for a client in Hong Kong to gift to her husband for their 10 year anniversary. Their story is so beautiful and I absolutely loved bringing it to life in this unique piece of art.

It begins at Michelle’s family restaurant, where her and her husband Andy met as children - they only discovered many years into their relationship that his mum and her aunt worked together and they used to come to the restaurant! So they had actually met as children but were completely unaware.

Then their first encounter at a pub called Bulldogs, I enhanced the logo and drew it as she remembers it.

Then it moves on to Shanghai, where they lived for some time, Dukling, the traditional Chinese wooden junk boat that they got engaged on, Jumbo Floating Restaurant, where they got married, which sadly sank this year, Tanzania & Zanzibar, where they went for their honeymoon, their special transforming apartment, and finally, London, where their daughter was born. I drew a small silhouette of her playing with their three cats.

I created this piece as a wedding gift from wife to husband, to open on their wedding day.

It begins with where they met, and includes their first date, their first kiss, their favourite restaurant, their home together with a pink door colour-pop, and their cat nestled outside the front door with a blue colour-pop of his tiny blue eyes.
It ends with their wedding venue and her parent’s home where they will be having their wedding reception.

‘Glasgow, India, New York’ -

I created this piece for a client to gift to his partner. It brings together Glasgow (where she is from) with India and New York, two places that they loved travelling together.

Pink cherry blossoms surround the Taj Mahal, giving the piece a really unique and eye-catching touch.

This piece was a birthday gift from wife to husband, bringing to life the places that are both special to them as a couple and to his own career journey.

It includes Edinburgh where they are both from and live together, and includes London, Dallas, New York City, Bejing, Tokyo and Singapore.

‘Nairobi & London’ -

I created this piece for a client who grew up in Kenya and moved to London when he was 15; bringing together his two homes in a unique piece of art.

The piece starts with the wild side of Kenya (acacia trees, zebras and giraffes as he used to love seeing these when he was little.) It begins with the wild because when you fly into Nairobi, the airport is near the national park, so before you see any of the city as you drive into it, you see the animals in the wild which then gradually builds into the Nairobi cityscape.

He dug out a picture of his childhood home that he took 12 years ago, and I drew it into the piece.

The London side includes weeping willows, which made such a beautiful and unique addition.

I created this piece for Whitestar Asset Management, to sit in their new London office.

It includes all the cities around the world where WhiteStar are based: Edinburgh, London, Dublin, Dallas and LA.

The Central Bank of Ireland is a unique golden colour-pop in the centre, with green trees scattered throughout the piece.

I created this piece as a 20th anniversary gift from wife to husband; bringing to life their journey together from when they met, to where they got engaged, to their first home together, to the church where they got married, and their current home together with a silhouette of their little girl outside.

‘London & Great Ormond Hospital’

In September 2019, 14-week-old Emmie was diagnosed with cancer. She had a malignant Rhabdoid tumour on her kidney which had also spread to her lungs and liver. At this point, things were so bad that her parents were told that they could actually take her home without treatment if they wanted to.

But they chose to fight, and Emmie had her very first dose of chemotherapy on September 11th 2019 (her fathers 33rd birthday) and since then she’s had 8 rounds of systemic chemotherapy, surgery to remove her left kidney, stem cell harvesting, high dose chemotherapy and stem cell infusion and has been having maintenance chemotherapy for the last 12 months.

She had her last dose of treatment in April 2021, and will now continue to have scans every 3 months to monitor her remission.

They wanted to create a memento of what Great Ormond Hospital has meant to their family:

“It’s impossible to ever fully describe what the hospital means to us.

On September 1st 2019 we woke up together at home as a family. The sky was blue and the world was normal. The next morning we were transferred to Great Ormond Street for the very first time and the sky started to fall piece by piece.

In our darkest of moments, the kindness of the incredible people who work there kept us afloat.

It has become, over the last twenty months, the very centre of our universe. It has become, in every way, our home. We owe Great Ormond Street absolutely everything we have.”

I really believe in the power art has to make us feel connected; to our past, to each other and to the experiences that make us who we are. Our stories connect us to each other, show us that we are not alone, and remind us to always be kind and compassionate towards each other.

I felt full of emotion creating this piece and feel so honoured to have been able to work on something so meaningful to them.

I created this piece for a client to gift to her partner for their anniversary. It brings together all their favourite places and fondest memories in London, where they live. It includes their first five dates (one of which is Roka Restaurant), where they got engaged, and the pagoda at Battersea Park where they spent a lot of time during 2020 in lockdown.

‘Hong Kong - Rainbow Estate Colour Pop’

I created this piece for a client as a birthday gift for his fiancé.
In colour, the Choi Hung Estate (also known as the Rainbow Estate) which is where she grew up.
It includes many of her favourite places in the city, Lion’s Rock, a Hong Kong tram and Hong Kong style tea rooms.

‘London, Blaise Ruby Loves’

I created this piece for the owner of Blaise Ruby Loves, a London-based small business where you can buy and sell pre-loved luxury items.

The piece combines London (in Spring) with a road of luxury designer shops from around the world, bringing together the city where she’s based and the amazing business she has created perfectly into one piece of art.

She gave me a list of her favourite designers and I had so much fun researching the designer shops in different countries all over the world, then surrounding the road with pink cherry blossom trees. Here’s where each of them are from:

Dior - Paris
Louis Vuitton- Osaka
Chanel -Perth
Bottega - Tokyo
MIU MIU - Paris
Prada - Milan
Saint Laurent - Paris
Balenciaga - California

Sikh temples

I created this unique piece for a client, combining several Sikh temples (Gurdwaras) that have a special meaning to her and her family.

It includes the temple which was one of the first places that her parents met, a temple that all her family would visit together frequently, a temple that her grandmother visited daily when she was young, and their local village temple.

The famous Golden Temple stands out in the middle with a striking golden colour pop.

‘Tokyo’

I created this piece for a client who has visited Tokyo many times over the years, it’s her favourite city in the world.

It includes her favourite spots and fondest memories from her travels there; and combines both the traditional and modern architecture of the city, with the iconic Mount Fuji in the background.

‘London, Hong Kong, New York’

These two prints (London & New York) along with one bespoke piece (Hong Kong, in the middle) tells the story of a couple’s journey together and the beginning of their family.

They lived in Hong Kong for many years together, and it’s where their little girl was born. The piece includes where they had their first date, the building in which they got married, some of their favourite spots in the city. It also includes the iconic Hong Kong tram and Old Junk Sail Boat, and Jumbo Restaurant which sadly is no longer there.

 ‘The Year Abroad’

I created this piece for a client who studied languages. He lived in Rio De Janeiro, Paris and Santiago for four months during this year abroad.

The piece brings together the three cities and creates a memento of a special time of his life.

‘Ukraine and Philadelphia’

I created this piece for a client who wanted to gift something really special to his partner.
She was born in Ukraine where she lived until she was 10, before she moved to Philadelphia in the U.S.
The piece combines both places, with a small, subtle colour pop of each flag, and I drew in places that would be meaningful to her including the apartment block she grew up in and her university.

This was a really special piece that I created for a client who had lost her beloved mum to cancer only a few months prior.

It includes many of their favourite memories together, including husky sledding in Lapland; and the three pyramids are the Pyramids of Giza, Stockport Pyramid and the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury.

I created a print of the piece for her to gift to her sister for Christmas.

It was a real honour to create something that brings to life their memories in such a beautiful way.
